Behind The Scenes: 2023 MazTech Mazda Australia National Final

Go behind the scenes of the third round of the MazTech Competition, the National Final.

Here at Mazda Australia we value passion, excellence and the Challenger Spirit.

All of which our Mazda Master Technicians need to embody in order to compete in the National Maztech Competition.

From the 110 Master Technicians within the Dealer Network that entered Round 1 of the competition, the final 8 State Champions competed to see who would be crowned Australia’s Best Technician in 2023.

We sought the best of the best, the most skilled technicians whose diagnostic capabilities would shine above the rest. Our technicians would have to show more than their electrical and mechanical skills, they would need to perform under pressure in intense hands-on challenges, all whilst battling the clock.

This year technicians had to face 8 different stations during the final, and diagnose a range of issues and errors on a multitude of vehicles; from the Mazda BT-50, through to the Mazda3, and even the Mazda MX-30. Judges devised scores based on technicians performance and ability to diagnose the errors.

So which of our highly skilled technicians would take home the immortal glory?

We are elated to announce that Mazda Mazda Technician from Osborne Park Mazda, Robin Styles takes the honour as the Best Mazda Technician in Australia. Congratulations Robin!

In 2nd place, the reigning champion Luke Carabott from Ryde Mazda.

Then Sunlight Ryan from South Morang Mazda. Our first female contestant who on her very first attempt (and only 2 years out of training) took out 3rd place.

Congratulations to all involved, and welcome Robin to the Mazda Master Technician hall of fame. He will be off to Japan in November where he will represent Mazda Australia.
