🔥This time the news comes not from the East, as is expected for news about Chinese cars, but from the West, or more precisely, from Belarus!
The same JAC T9, in the form of an electric pickup truck Hanter EV, which was noted at the main Beijing Auto Show, appeared in neighboring Belarus with a diesel engine.
It is stated that by the end of the year, a pickup truck with a diesel engine may also appear on the Russian market.
If the predictions come true, then, perhaps, as in Belarus, this will be a car with an automatic transmission and an engine with a capacity of 170 hp and a torque of 410 Nm. The engine is quiet, with a cast-iron block and a timing chain. The load capacity will be 1000 kg, and the body dimensions of 1520 mm by 1590 mm allow you to place a standard pallet between the wheel arches.
The JAC T9 is a mid-sized pickup that’s been available since 2020 and which underwent a facelift last year. It has also been well known since last year that JAC were developing an EV version and a prototype has been previously shown. The production version though looks significantly different to the prototype making it look distinct from the ICE version – the prototype looked fundamentally the same bar a few stickers and color changes.
At the front the T9 pickup – Hunter is a name primarily used in the Chinese market – in its EV form looks very different now to the ICE version. Firstly the large grille on the ICE version is now closed off with the JAC logo lower down. Although the cladding around the grille is the same it seems to fit the new look far more than on the ICE version of the T9. Looking at the 18-inch wheels they now have low drag coverings to try to boost range. ICE versions of the T9 had a roll cage and side rails on the pickup bed complete with JAC logo in the roll cage. This setup is gone on the EV version with just simple chrome rails on top of the side of the bed along with what looks like a black fairing around the back of the cab window.
The EV version of the JAC T9 Hunter pickup truck has been spied getting ready for its Beijing Auto Show launch. It will be one of the first proper fully electric pickup trucks available featuring a dual motor four wheel drive setup. It is however based on an ICE truck.
