We hear this all of the time: "You can't drive an electric vehicle in winter." And it's certainly true that EVs lose range when it gets cold out. But as I discovered in a recent test of the Honda Prologue that coincided with a surprise mini-blizzard, EVs are actually far superior to gas cars when it comes to traction in the snow. They're no substitute for dedicated winter tires if things get really bad, but for reasons I cover below, they're actually far better for cold-weather traction than they think.
