2026 Jeep Recon EV Is Getting a Little More Real

The Jeep Recon is on the way later this year, and the first glimpses of the near-production electric SUV were revealed by the automaker just days ago.
A boxy companion to the Wrangler, the Recon will still feature removable doors, a tailgate-mounted spare and plenty of off-road hardware, but it should be a little plusher inside and offer a few more creature comforts than the Wrangler.
Based on the STLA Large platform shared with the Dodge Charger Daytona and the freshly launched Jeep Wagoneer S, the Recon should also offer plenty of range for those intent on taking it far from paved roads.
It should also be one of the first truly affordable off-road-friendly electric SUVs, as just about everything else (with the possible exception of the Rivian R1S) has been aimed at luxury crossover buyers.

But will it ultimately find an audience among Jeep buyers, or EV buyers?
