J-20 fighter, the most powerful Chinese stealth fighter jet, is performing flight demos in the Air Force official airshow. The event is held in Changchun, northeast China. Audiences are able to watch the J-20 taxing on airstrip only a few meters away.
This is the best opportunity for medias to capture close-up details of the J-20. I will make more videos about this, please do subscribe to my channel, click the bell button to receive my updates.
Audience made online comments about the quality and sophistication of the J-20. Many noticed the surface of this Chinese aircraft is exceptionally smooth and the paint work is well above expectation. All these are part of the features of a truly stealthy fighter.
The J-20 fighters in this show are believed to be from nearby air force bases, and appear to be some of the latest produced J-20. They are from the 3rd batch of J-20 production. It is believe the J-20 in service already passed 200, overtaking the U.S. F-22 fleet to become the most powerful large-size stealth fighter fleet around the world.
Four J-20 fighters have been practicing group flight demos in Changchun. The routine includes an exciting head-to-head fly over of all four J-20s. This routine has never before been performed. Previously the J-20 only showed single-aircraft or double routines. This shows the Chinese Air Force is now very confident about J-20 doing flight demos and allows higher risk routines.
The four J-20 carried out flypast with the Y-20 aerial refueling variant. In some sessions two J-20 fighters and two J-16 fighter flew with the Y-20. After the flypast, the four J-20 flew in close formation above the audience, showing the pilots are confident to perform multi aircraft routines with the J-20, including diamond formation. And of course the head-to-head four J-20 is the best in this airshow.
Again having four J-20 in one airshow means the Chinese air force has received large amount of this modern fighter, therefore they are now able to allocate four J-20 dedicated to the event without severely impacting training and deployment.
Also the Z-20 utility helicopter Air Force rescue variant made appearance as well. This aircraft is mainly for search and rescue missions, very likely to participate in the war that might happen in the Taiwan strait.
Adding to that, the Z-10 attack helicopter, the Y-20 refueling tanker, the J-16 fighter, and the J-11B fighter made flight demonstrations.
