Comments
- I don't know about you, but I think I'll have to listen to some Beethoven to really test out that Dolby Atmos sound. Gotta make sure I can hear every single note of that Fifth Symphony!"
- Seriously? What's next? Car cinema on the windshield? When will we get a real car instead of this stupid thing of the future? The automotive industry is dead if you encourage customers with such things.
- What an awesome invention , curious to hear it for myself too of Dolby Atmos sound quality, and been able experience it would be great

3.0L inline-6 turbo engine with Plug-in Hybrid technology
The seamless power and natural balance of an inline-6 team with another Mercedes-Benz tradition: advanced innovation. The lightweight, beltless engine is also electrified, with a Plug-In Hybrid electric motor. The electric motor can add 148 hp to the turbocharged gas engine's 362, achieving a combined 503 hp. And it can propel the S 580e gas-free for up to 47 miles, then let the gas engine take over.
Plug-In Hybrid technology
Advanced 4th-gen Plug-In Hybrid technology delivers numerous electric-car benefits while retaining the convenience of a gasoline engine. The compact electric motor can deliver a substantial boost in power and torque, or let you drive up to 47 miles on battery power alone. Charging can come from the gas engine and regenerative braking, or plug it into an ordinary AC outlet to go from 10 percent to fully charged in just 2.25 hours. Optional DC charging can go from 10 to 80 percent in 20 minutes.
ECO Start/Stop system
A fuel-saving ECO Start/Stop system automatically shuts off the engine at stoplights and other idle situations. As soon as the driver lifts off the brake, the engine instantly restarts, for immediate acceleration response. The ECO Start/Stop system can also be shut off by the driver at any time.
Power charging door
Power opening and closing of the charge-port door makes recharging even more convenient. You can open the door via the in-dash touchscreen, and it can close automatically after charging when you unplug the charging cable. You can also open and close the door manually with a simple press of the flap
