Tokyo, JAPAN — Nissan today unveiled a strategically curated lineup designed to energize its domestic market presence. The all-new Elgrand, the confirmed Japan launch of the rugged Patrol SUV, and a refreshed Ariya headline the showcase, each reflecting Nissan’s intelligent approach to mobility and innovation. These exciting new models mark an important step in Nissan’s next chapter, reinforcing the brand’s renewed product strategy under its Re:Nissan plan. Alongside the recently launched all-new LEAF, the new Roox Kei car, and the updated MY26 Skyline sedan, these models are set to energize Nissan’s presence in Japan and drive future growth.
Re:Nissan in action
Nissan is confidently shaping the future of mobility through its Re:Nissan plan centered on delivering innovative products, intelligent technologies, and memorable experiences. This renewed approach reflects the company’s commitment to innovation, customer satisfaction, and long-term growth in the Japanese market and beyond.
In Japan, this means refreshing core models, expanding into new segments, and introducing signature "heartbeat" vehicles that resonate emotionally with customers and embody the best of the company’s innovation and heritage. Driven by advanced, purpose-built technology, Nissan’s vision for the future centers on creating intelligent, emotionally resonant vehicles that seamlessly blend heritage with innovation, supporting sustainable growth both domestically and worldwide.
Innovation and intelligence central to Nissan’s future
Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa reaffirmed the commitment to enhancing performance in its core markets, stating, “A strong, vibrant Japan market is important for Nissan’s global success. We are dedicated to reigniting that spirit by honoring our heritage, launching the Patrol as a new flagship for Japan, elevating the legacy of the Elgrand through electrification and advanced intelligence, and pushing technological boundaries with our EVs. Our goal is to offer a range of compelling vehicles, from the smallest Roox to our flagship models, that not only meet daily needs but also inspire emotion and pride.”
All-new Elgrand set to deliver comfort, safety, and joy for families on the move
Since its debut in 1997, the Elgrand has helped pioneer Japan’s “premium minivan” segment, earning a reputation for its spacious, luxurious interiors and engaging driving performance. The fourth-generation model builds upon this legacy, incorporating Nissan’s latest electrified powertrain technologies and a sophisticated design that elevates driving enjoyment and comfort for all onboard. Scheduled for launch in Japan in summer 2026, the all-new Elgrand promises a smooth, quiet, and elevated ride, setting the stage for extraordinary journeys that inspire excitement.
Design celebrates Japanese culture
The exterior design embodies Nissan’s "Timeless Japanese Futurism" design language, which draws inspiration from traditional Japanese craftsmanship and aesthetics, reimagining them using the latest techniques, materials, and technologies.
It features a commanding stance, with a grille motif inspired by the Japanese Kumiko pattern that seamlessly blends into the frontal light signature. The vehicle’s color palette includes Fuji Dawn, a new hue inspired by the combination of dawn over Mount Fuji, and Shigoku, a deep red-purple symbolizing elegance and nobility.
Inside, the cabin exudes a private lounge-like atmosphere, where second-row passengers will indulge in the comfort of zero gravity captain’s chairs. TailorFitTM leather and woodgrain accents, along with Kumiko-inspired patterns on the door and seat trims, complement the segment-first dual 14.3-inch integrated displays that combine driver information and infotainment, enhancing the luxurious ambiance. Available Bose® 22-speaker premium sound and 64-color ambient lighting further elevate the sensory experience.
Power, comfort, and advanced technology
The all-new Elgrand is powered exclusively by Nissan’s third-generation e-POWER hybrid system, featuring a newly developed, purpose-built engine and modular 5-in-1 electric powertrain for refined performance, quieter operation, and improved fuel efficiency.
It will be the first model in the company’s global line-up to feature Nissan’s updated e-4ORCE electric four-wheel drive system, designed to provide even more impressive handling and stability regardless of the road conditions. The rear electric motor torque suppresses vehicle pitching during acceleration and deceleration, providing a smooth, comfortable ride for passengers and reducing the likelihood of carsickness.
For the driver, the system actively utilizes rear motor torque during cornering for a more enjoyable and engaging experience. An Intelligent Dynamic Suspension system minimizes body roll and maintains a flat stance, ensuring a smooth ride.
The all-new Elgrand will feature Nissan’s latest ProPILOT1, which for the first time supports hands-off operation at speeds below 50 km/h. Additionally, ProPILOT 2.0 will be available, offering hands-free highway driving and lane change assistance—making long-distance journeys more comfortable and enjoyable.
Nissan Patrol coming to Japan
Alongside the all-new Elgrand, Nissan will introduce the legendary Patrol to Japan in the first half of FY27. The premium yet rugged, terrain-conquering SUV marks the company’s return to a segment it hasn’t competed in since production of the Safari ended in 2007.
A true ‘heartbeat model’ for the company, the Patrol’s arrival highlights Nissan’s commitment to delivering vehicles that embody strength, durability, and advanced technology—capable of conquering Japan’s diverse landscapes and catering to the adventurous spirit of its drivers.
More than just broadening the range, the introduction of the Patrol reaffirms Nissan’s position as a leader in the SUV segment, underscoring its dedication to providing vehicles that inspire confidence, excitement, and versatility for both capable off-road adventures and ultra-comfortable urban exploration.
Refreshed Ariya: Style, Connectivity, and Comfort
Set to arrive in Japan later this fiscal year, the updated Ariya EV crossover features a more refined exterior, Google-powered infotainment2, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, and suspension upgrades designed to enhance ride comfort. These improvements aim to deliver a more connected, stylish, and comfortable electric driving experience tailored for Japanese consumers.
Like the all-new LEAF, the refreshed Ariya incorporates features that support Nissan’s vision of intelligent mobility, contributing to a broader energy ecosystem. Nissan EVs play a key role in creating a more sustainable future, with Nissan Energy initiatives demonstrating how these vehicles support energy management, reduce grid dependency, and enable active lifestyles—advancing the company’s commitment to sustainability.
