The second-gen Rivian R1T and R1S may look the same, but under the hood, they're a whole new beast. The EVs now get fewer but more powerful computers, reduced internal wiring, a new LFP battery powering the base versions, and also a new tri-motor trim. The upgrades are big, but the theme is clear: Rivians are now simpler, more modern and they will continue getting better with frequent software upgrades. InsideEVs Editor-in-Chief Patrick George drove the 2025 R1T across Texas recently, and he says the R1T is the electric truck to go for. That is, if you can stomach its steep starting price of nearly $72,000. The version InsideEVs tested, the Dual Motor Max Pack, costs an eye-watering $96,900. In other news, we also highlight on Kia's big EV plans, how the Trump administration is hurting America's auto industry and why the Hyundai Motor Group is pausing its solid-state battery plans till 2030. —Suvrat Kothari, Staff Writer |
