Driver Assistance: A helping hand, where you need it Park Assist Plus
The available Park Assist Plus feature puts into perspective the “will my car fit” debate when you come across the perfect parking spot. Not only can it sense the size of a space, but it will also help you do the parking, from start to finish, as you supervise. Parallel, perpendicular, or reversing—Park Assist Plus can help with them all.

Park Distance Control
Park Distance Control helps take the guess work out of parking your car, while Maneuver Braking helps apply the brake automatically to help mitigate the chance of a collision with stationary objects while reversing into a spot. With Park Distance Control’s audio beeps and visual support, you’ll know if you’re getting too close to detected obstacles in front of or behind your car. It’ll also share additional information on your display, so you can see what’s behind your car as you reverse within a parking spot.

Light Assist
When driving at 18 mph or faster and your surroundings get dark, the Light Assist driver assistance feature turns on to help make sure the road ahead is lit, and when your speed slows to 12 mph, it turns off. You can set the high beams into “auto” mode, so they’ll automatically activate when there’s low light, and turn off when there’s an oncoming vehicle, or you enter an area that’s well lit by the environment or by traffic conditions.

Dynamic Road Sign Display
From traffic signs to speed limits, when you need a reminder about the signs on the road, Dynamic Road Sign Display helps share the information you want. It also features warnings for speed, restricted traffic zones and more, so you can remain focused on the road ahead.

Sound and Audio: Music—and more — to your ears
Want each seat in your Golf R to be a good seat at the show? With the available Harman Kardon® premium sound system, you’ll get superior clarity and sophistication for your road tunes.

A lot goes in before you do
Safety is a core value to us. And while we can’t predict everything you might encounter, we can and do spend long hours trying to help you prepare for it.
Rear View Camera System.

Safety Cell
We’ve got a firm attitude about safety.
Front and rear crumple zones help absorb crash energy, while a rigid safety cell helps distribute forces away from the driver and passengers.
Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS) Intelligent by design.
In the event of a collision that deploys the airbags, the ICRS can turn off the fuel pump, unlock the doors, and activate the hazard lights. t helps react if you might not be able to.

Automatic Post-Collision Braking System We like to think ahead.
Not every collision brings a car to stop. That’s why our vehicles include the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System. It can also help slow the vehicle down after a collision, helping reduce the chance of any additional impacts.

Six stability-enhancing systems Equipped for peace of mind.
From Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution (EBD), which helps maintain appropriate stopping power during a hard-braking situation, to Electronic Stability Control (ESC), which can adjust engine throttle and apply corrective forces to the wheels that need them most, your vehicle is equipped with a total of six stability-enhancing systems.

Wireless charging: Keep your devices going for the long haul
Our 45-watt USB port charging and ventilated 15W wireless charging for compatible devices won’t leave you—or your passengers—without a charge. Even if you forgot your charger.

Car-Net Wi-Fi Hotspot: Internet on the go
Car-Net Wi-Fi Hotspot1 makes the ride fun for your passengers, connecting up to four Wi-Fi enabled devices. That’s entertainment, solved.
Requires myVW account and acceptance of Car-Net Terms of Service. The Wi-Fi hotspot feature is intended for passenger use only. 4G LTE coverage is not available in all areas. See materials provided for terms, privacy, data security details. Requires trial or paid Wi-Fi plan from third party wireless provider.

Take your apps for a ride
Use App-Connect to conveniently view and control select apps on your compatible smartphone, right from your Volkswagen touchscreen display. Compatible with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ by Google.

Always pay careful attention to the road, and do not drive while distracted. Not all features available on all operating systems. Message and data usage rates apply. App-Connect features require compatible device, operating system, and mobile apps. See mobile device and app providers for terms and privacy. Google and Android Auto are trademarks of Google LLC. Service Reminders, Scheduling & History
Wondering when you need to service your vehicle? Save that mental energy for other items on your to-do list. We can give you a heads up when it’s time to service your vehicle—making it easy for you to schedule a service appointment with your preferred dealer. Once your dealer service appointment is complete, you can access your service history right from the myVW app.

Roadside Assistance Requests
Whether you run out of gas, have a flat tire, or are faced with a dead battery, you can use myVW to request roadside assistance. A battery jump, tire change or tow can be just a few taps away.

Remote Commands
You can access your car when you’re next to it or miles away. Remote Start your car (if equipped), lock and unlock the doors , honk the horn, flash the lights, and more - right from the myVW app. Plus, with the Car-Net skill enabled on your Amazon devices, command Alexa to "Start my car"5(if equipped), "Unlock my car", or "Honk my horn."

With remote features, you're always in the driver's seat.

Last Parked Location
Forgot exactly where you parked? When you activate Car-Net, you can use the myVW app to find your vehicle –navigating you back to your vehicle with turn-by-turn directions.

Vehicle Health
Help keep your vehicle in tip-top shape when you activate Car-Net - just tap on Vehicle Health Report in myVW to access diagnostic information. The results will tell you when your next service is due and whether your vehicle might be due for a check-up at your local Volkswagen dealer.

Vehicle Alerts
When you activate Car-Net, you can create custom vehicle alerts such as boundary, speed, curfew, and even valet alerts to help keep tabs on your car when others take it for a drive.

- I'd prefer a mk8 with a manual over this. And in fact, I did. The buttons are literally not an issue in ownership but I appreciate that they added physical buttons on the wheel regardless. Honestly, just buy a used mk7, 7.5, or 8. You'll get your money's worth.

- If you didn’t really know about these cars and someone took the badges off you’d have a hard time saying which one is the $30k car and which one is $50k.

- Show me you operating that bigger infotainment screen when moving down a semi bumpy road. The mk8 infotainment is small but on the move I can rest my fingers at the top to steady my thumb as I hit keys. What a stupid thing to have to defend, lol. And I like the R steering wheel setup. I've never hit the R button by mistake. I can easily clean my solid plastic with a clean rag, done. Those real buttons are gonna need more help to get your old food and sweat out of the spaces between those real buttons.

- I by far prefer the DSG gearboxes to manuals. I’ve had a manual 911 and GT500 over the years. The ease of traffic driving is far easier with the DSG and the performance can’t be beat. Now if you just like feeling like you’re an old school professional racer, the manuals are great but the DSG makes a driver far better.

- Wonder what USA regulations prevent overseas car manufactures from easily bringing over the wagon versions of cars like the GTI and Golf R? Would be great to have the wagon versions offered in the USA for only about $1000 more. Would like for the current Golf R to have the same steering wheel buttons as the current GTI. My wife's GTI mk 7.5 is more fun to drive around town than our Macan GTS and Audi S4. Incredible car...well engineered!

- Used to own a mk8 R. Sold it after 7k miles. One of the worst manual transmissions ever so not a big loss there and the buttons aren't as much of an disaster as the rest of the infotainment.... Buy a GR Carolla if you can stand how it looks or a Type R if you can live with FWD.

- Too expensive. Remember when VW meant value? GTI dumbed down to more a base spec Golf? That haptic crap? "Piano black"? VW has lost the plot - sadly. Hopefully in a few years we'll look back on now as a repeat of the MK3 as we get better models instead of the death knell of the Golf.

- My expectation for 2026 is that the markets starts to broaden out more, with the halving i have a couple of questions... can I safely invest $220k in crypto? Is $XAI33 still the safest option this year?
