Charging basics How to charge with IONITY Ford UK

Get familiar with IONITY, a leading Ultra Fast charging provider. IONITY is a fast-growing, high-power charging network with stations across Europe, and is included in the BlueOval™ Charge Network.
*Charging time is based on test data from a Ford Explorer Premium AWD Extended Range model using a 200 kW DC ultra fast charger, conducted in a controlled environment at 23°C. It is important to note, however, that actual charging times can vary due to a range of factors. These include the vehicle's battery capacity, the type of charging station used, current weather conditions, ambient temperature, driving behaviour and profile, the condition of the vehicle, including the age and condition of the battery, and the presence of any vehicle accessories. This information is provided to help gauge approximate charging times, but actual times may differ based on these factors. Product and screens may vary over time to ensure best customer experience.

The IONITY network is rapidly expanding, with a target of 400 locations across Europe by the end of 2020 with a commitment to use 100% renewable electricity sources.

Finding an IONITY public charging station is simple using the SYNC 4A* Navigation app. Start or maximise the app and tap ‘Where To?’ Type ‘IONITY’ and the closest charging stations will be displayed on screen. And some will even report their availability.

Choose the charging station you want, and when you're ready to start navigation, just touch the green ‘Go!’ button.

Ford is connected with dozens of charge providers, including IONITY, and we will continue to expand as the charging networks grow.

When you arrive at an IONITY charging station, you'll find it's easy to access. You can pay for charging through the FordPass Charging Network using the FordPass app**. Alternatively, if you don't have your phone, you can use the FordPass Charge Card supplied with your Mustang Mach-E (once you've registered it with your FordPass account).

You can use your stored payment method to pay for charging — no card or cash needed. And if you have a FordPass charging subscription, you'll benefit from preferential rates.

To charge, just plug in your car as you normally would. IONITY and other DC chargers use a built-in cable, And it's safe to charge in any weather.

To connect, pull down the cover on the lower part of your Mustang Mach-E's charge port. When charging, the cable locks in place and can only be removed when the vehicle is unlocked and the key is present, keeping it secure.

An IONITY station can charge from 10–80% in as little as 38 minutes† depending on the battery size and model of your Mustang Mach-E. So, with handy break facilities nearby, it's the perfect time to grab a coffee. While you relax, FordPass can remotely monitor your Mach-E's charging status.

To preserve battery capacity, we recommend that you don't charge over 80%. Unless of course, you need the extra range for a long-distance journey.

When you're finished charging, just return the cable to the charging station to end the session.
