The Bugatti Brouillard and its equine inspiration | ShortsCars

An extraordinary hypercar defined by speed, beauty, and unparalleled grace. BROUILLARD evokes each of the qualities that Ettore Bugatti deeply admired – ones that defined the horse he loved dearly.
Brouillard was a majestic thoroughbred, resplendent in a coat speckled with the subtle shades of a summer morning mist.
Today, the unparalleled hypercar celebrates Ettore’s great passion for equestrianism, and the enduring values that inspired each of his automotive creations.

MORE IMFO
From the timeless automotive designs of Jean Bugatti to the masterful sculptures of Rembrandt Bugatti, the pursuit of singular artistry has defined the BUGATTI brand since its inception. The BUGATTI Programme Solitaire is committed to reviving the legacy of this tradition, redefining the art of coachbuilding that has been woven into BUGATTI’s DNA for over a century. It offers truly bespoke, one-of-one hypercars, brought to life through a deeply personal and meticulously curated collaboration between the brand and its future owner.

The inaugural creation of the Programme Solitaire is the BUGATTI BROUILLARD, a breathtaking coupé that pays homage to Ettore Bugatti’s passion for equestrianism. Named after the faithful companion who could open his own stable door thanks to a special mechanism designed by Ettore himself, this hypercar celebrates the founder’s deep love of horses and his favorite among them all. He was the embodiment of everything Ettore admired: speed, beauty, and unparalleled grace.

Coachbuilding roots
The Programme Solitaire follows in the footsteps of BUGATTI’s rich coachbuilding heritage. A tradition that flourished in the early 20th century, when the most beautiful automotive bodies were crafted through collaboration between car manufacturers and specialist coachbuilders. Jean Bugatti revolutionized this approach by bringing the craft in-house, creating icons like the TYPE 57 SC ATLANTIC. While that curation may be the most renowned, the TYPE 57 chassis was adorned with numerous in-house bodies, including Galibier, Stelvio, Ventoux, and Atalante, offering configurations from four-door saloon to two-door convertible and coupé.

The BROUILLARD is built upon the pinnacle of BUGATTI’s W16-powered platform featuring the 1,600 PS iteration of the legendary quad-turbocharged engine. It represents the highest evolution of the W16 program, incorporating nearly two decades of engineering excellence and refinement.

Programme Solitaire is the crown jewel and an expansion of BUGATTI’s individualization and personalization programs. It allows owners to explore tailor-made design options, including the shape of the vehicle, to create a truly unique BUGATTI in collaboration with the BUGATTI design team.

Aerodynamics
The aerodynamic philosophy of the BROUILLARD seamlessly integrates functional elements into its sculpted bodywork. Air intakes channel airflow through the radiators, creating a pressure drop that enhances cooling efficiency. The fixed ducktail wing ensures aerodynamic balance while accentuating the hypercar’s elegant silhouette. At the rear, the diffuser maximizes functional surface area through innovative exhaust packaging, marking the culmination of development on BUGATTI’s W16 platform.

Interior
Interior craftsmanship reaches new heights with the BUGATTI BROUILLARD, combining tradition and innovation in extraordinary ways. Custom-woven tartan fabrics sourced from Paris meet green-tinted carbon fiber and precision-machined aluminum components. A glass roof creates a cathedral-like sense of space, while the center spine flows seamlessly from exterior to interior, visible through the transparent panel above.

Craftsmanship
An unwavering dedication to the finest artisan craftsmanship is evident in every detail of the BUGATTI BROUILLARD, from the embroidered horse motifs on the door panels and seat backrests to the custom-shaped seats tailored to the owner’s preferences, finished with a distinctive leather patch layout. The gear shifter, machined from a single block of aluminum, features a glass insert containing a miniature, hand-crafted sculpture of Ettore’s favored horse and the very inspiration behind the hypercar’s name. In every respect, the BROUILLARD is a work of automotive haute couture, infused with the limitless creativity of BUGATTI’s design, engineering, and materials experts.

The commissioning owner of the BUGATTI BROUILLARD is a deeply passionate BUGATTI collector – not only of cars, both historic and modern, but also of Carlo Bugatti’s eclectic furniture and Rembrandt Bugatti’s evocative bronze sculptures. With the BROUILLARD, the owner sought to unite the artistry and craftsmanship of the entire Bugatti family in a single masterpiece. Through countless bespoke details, the owner’s profound appreciation for BUGATTI’s rich heritage, the Bugatti family, and Ettore’s unique bond with his favorite horse is beautifully expressed.
