This is the Kia PV5, a fully electric commercial vehicle that’s been designed like Lego — mix and match what you want: crew cab, six or seven seats, cargo version, barn doors, tailgate — you name it. It’s a van for the future, and it’s got more thought put into it than most people’s weekly shop.
With battery options ranging from just over 40 kWh up to 71.2 kWh, up to 150 kW DC charging, and around 400 km of range, the PV5 is aiming to be the electric van that actually makes sense for businesses. Prices start from €33,000 in Ireland, and it’s packed with clever touches — from modular bumpers and flat cargo floors to endless storage spots and vehicle-to-load power.
But is it better than a Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo? Is it as charming? And most importantly, has Kia really listened to what van drivers want — or just ticked the boxes?
Join me as I take a full look around, load it up, and find out if this electric workhorse could be your next best mate on the job.

- That looks great- all the storage cubbies in the cab are brilliant. When are Skoda going to do Simply Clever vans ?!?! Love how quiet it is - Transits and Ivecos (in the 90s anyway ) would have yer ears worn out at the end of a day!- 690 kilo payload is the deal breaker. Put in some internal racking a a good roof rack and you will be down to 3-400 kilos available. 2 men will be a minimum 150 kilos. So a real world load carry of 300kilos. Total waste of time for most workvans. Light parcels or florists only im afraid.
- KIA seems to getting totally absorbed with its own design language lately, which in the most part works until...until you meet up with the KIA Tasman ute, which glaringly illustrates the dangers of a design theme, and nothing but a design theme . Be wery wery careful KIA PV5! 🚧🐰
