Donald Trump wants to kill the federal clean vehicle tax credit. So does chief backer/shadow President/agency dismemberment expert Elon Musk. There's only one real thing that could stand in their way: Congress. Hey, there's a first time for everything. I thought that while clean energy subsidies are not popular among Republican congresspeople, jobs are. EV battery and manufacturing projects are bringing stable, high-paying jobs to primarily red states, which I thought would be enough. But as our own Tim Levin reports, that probably won't be enough to save them. That's why we do original reporting. Sometimes our guts are wrong, and going off vibes rather than facts is how the information ecosystem got so bad in the first place. —Mack Hogan, Deputy Editor |
