Keep in mind the R2 is two years away at best. The $45K entry price is subject to change. You know the dual motor with a few bells and whistles will be north of $55K. Who knows what other comparable ICE or EV vehicles will be available then. The model Y will be refreshed next year and Tesla has been ferocious at cutting prices to pressure competition. The R2 will not overtake the best selling car in the world. Also, the Chinese will be here by 2026 with very compelling products.
I placed a deposit on the R2 but will not pass judgement until production begins and I’ve taken a hard look at the competitive landscape.

- I worked 7 years for Tesla, M3 pilot to traveling all over the states, working onsite solving and resolving demand issues. I’m now with Rivian going on 2 months. Those 2 months have been better than my whole Tesla tenure. Couldn’t be more proud of our culture, existing, and upcoming products.
- I've never owned an EV but after recently seeing the R3/R3X all of a sudden I'm watching Rivian VERY closely. I know I have a long wait until 2028 but I'm really cheering this company on. I believe the R2/3 can transition lots of ICE drivers like myself to EVs. I really enjoyed seeing what these talented and enthusiastic Rivian employees are up to and I wish Rivian the best of luck!

- 6 years Tesla Model 3 owner here. Love my Model 3 but can’t wait for the R2. Wife will probably keep my 3. Early reservation holder here and stock holder so hoping everything goes well with this company.
