It's time to unleash my new Lamborghini Huracan STO! For the first outing with the track focused bull, I'm at Donington Park where we can hear the V10 scream and really get a feel for what this mad machine is all about in its natural habitat.
It's only been a few weeks, but having quickly piled on the miles to the STO it's now ready and raring to go, so what better to get out on track and drive it exactly as intended. With the day hosted by The Glenturret Whiskey, and organised by Axiom Events, the team from Lamborghini Pangbourne were present and this made a perfect opportunity with thankfully dry tarmac to push the Lambo.
The Huracan STO has heavy aero influences from the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO race car and is very much intended to be the motorsport variant for the road. Up to now I've done quite a few road miles where I've felt like it's just constantly screaming to be driven harder and out of the track it really comes into its own. The heavier steering in Trofeo mode all of a sudden feels like it has the right weight, the harsh ride keeps it compliant on the smooth surface of the circuit, and the noise... well what needs to be said!
