Every curve, contour, and component of Overture is designed to bring supersonic travel back—better than ever.
From boomless cruise for overland routes to precision manufacturing happening in-house at Boom, Overture is built to lead. Because speed alone isn’t enough.
To redefine air travel, you need:
✅ Breakthrough engineering
✅ Smart partnerships
✅ A foundation in sustainability
✅ A team that’s already building the future
This is supersonic, by design.
Fly the World’s Leading Airlines
United Airlines, American Airlines, and Japan Airlines have orders and pre‑orders of Overture to fly within their fleets.
Experience a New Era of Travel
Overture’s all-premium cabin delivers ample room to relax or focus with large windows, premium materials, and next-gen in-flight connectivity and interactivity—all with fares similar to today’s business class.
Advanced Avionics Suite
Overture’s flight deck builds on the next-generation Honeywell Anthem avionics suite and will offer pilots unprecedented situational awareness and ease of control. The avionics suite will be tailored for Overture’s specific mission requirements, providing passengers with the safest possible flight experience.
Force-feedback Sidesticks
Force-feedback sidesticks allow pilots to control the plane while physically feeling both aircraft response and inputs made by the co-pilot or autopilot.
Augmented Reality Vision System
Overture has an advanced augmented reality vision system for takeoff and landing, eliminating the need for the droop nose used on Concorde. Universal Avionics’ head-worn device seamlessly integrates cameras and sensors, using augmented reality to greatly enhance situational awareness and passenger safety.
17-inch High Definition Touchscreens
State-of-the-art displays eliminate the hundreds of breakers and buttons found in legacy cockpits. Every airplane function is accessible through software while physical controls—such as stick, throttle, and landing gear—are offered for safety-critical functions.
Over-the-air Upgrades
Overture will receive over-the-air software upgrades, meaning new features and improvements will arrive regularly. Airlines can control how upgrades are rolled out across fleets.
Former Chief Concorde Pilot Flies Overture Simulator
Mike Bannister, who flew more hours on Concorde than any other pilot, stepped into Overture’s next-generation flight deck.
“I’ve long believed that Overture is the rightful successor to Concorde. After experiencing Overture’s flight deck, which is incredibly well designed and delightful to fly, my excitement and enthusiasm for this aircraft has only intensified.”former Chief Concorde Pilot for British Airways

IMFO MORE
"Supersonic by Design: Overture" refers to the Overture aircraft being developed by Boom Supersonic, a company focused on making supersonic flight sustainable and accessible. The Overture is a supersonic airliner designed to cruise at Mach 1.7 and carry 65–80 passengers. Key features of the updated design include a four-engine configuration, contoured fuselage, and gull-shaped wings, optimized for efficient supersonic flight using 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Key aspects of the Overture's design:
Speed:
The Overture will fly at Mach 1.7, which is roughly twice the speed of today's commercial airliners.
Sustainability:
It is designed to run on 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), making it a more environmentally responsible option for supersonic travel.
Capacity:
The aircraft is planned to carry between 65 and 80 passengers, depending on its configuration.
Aerodynamics:
The design features a contoured (or "soda bottle") fuselage, which helps balance the aircraft's cross-sectional area to reduce drag at supersonic speeds, a principle known as the area rule.
Configuration:
It has a four-engine configuration and unique "gull wings" that improve aerodynamic performance.
Development:
The Overture is the result of extensive work, including millions of hours in simulated design and multiple wind tunnel tests.
Broader significance:
Boom Supersonic aims to open up a new era of supersonic travel, making the world more accessible by allowing people to experience more places and cultures. The project also includes applications for government and defense, with collaborations underway with entities like the United States Air Force and Northrop Grumman.

- Good to see that they are beginning to build the first full-sized prototype. Hopefully, you get testing it next year???- One of the most beautiful aircraft concepts I've seen. After more than half a century in Aviation, I've seen so many inspired aircraft designs almost become a reality only to meet with an untimely demise on the cusp of economic downturns. Let's have hope we see this become an overture gracing the skies.
- If one outboard engine fails at supersonic it’s like slamming the rudder pedal. There goes the tail, then the opposite wing. It’s all about CG AND NESTING.
- It’s wierd seeing a supersonic airliner with elevators and horizontal stabilisers
