John Cooper Works’ New Era of Electric Performance MINI

Discover the first-ever all-electric MINI John Cooper Works and the first-ever all-electric MINI John Cooper Works Aceman. Join Charlie Cooper as he takes a closer look at why these vehicles redefine what it means to charge into the corners.

Just in time for the Paris Motor Show from 14 October to 20 October, MINI is presenting a new top model. The MINI John Cooper Works Electric, with up to 190 kW / 258 hp, delivers impressive acceleration and top speed, reinforcing its leadership in its vehicle class. The vehicle architecture of the all-electric MINI models is perfectly designed to support the performance-focused characteristics of the John Cooper Works line. The MINI 3-door accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds. It boasts a top speed of 200 km/h and a system torque of 350 Nm. Its high-voltage battery, with an energy content of 54.2 kWh (gross), provides a range of up to 371 kilometers as determined in the WLTP test cycle.

Mini has introduced the all-electric John Cooper Works (JCW) model, marking an exciting shift for performance enthusiasts. This latest version is a three-door hatchback that blends Mini's iconic styling with modern electric performance. The electric motor delivers an impressive 255 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, allowing the JCW to accelerate from zero to 62 miles per hour in just 5.9 seconds.

While the new JCW does not feature a gas-powered engine like previous models, it certainly does not sacrifice power. It even includes a boost function that temporarily increases output by 27 horsepower, making overtaking and acceleration even more thrilling. Additionally, the JCW is equipped with enhanced brakes and high-grip tires for optimal stopping power and handling.

Inside, the JCW keeps its sporty edge with a red and black interior theme, featuring synthetic leather seats with contrasting stitching. Special touches like ambient lighting in the roof distinguish it from its less powerful counterparts.

While this electric JCW will not be available in the United States initially, Mini plans to start production in Oxford by 2026. This could pave the way for its eventual release in North America, giving electric vehicle fans something to look forward to.

- Bit confused! how come the tail lights are more like the F56 on this version? Just checked the configurator and the convertible gets the nicer back end for sure.
- I didn't like the new design at all. It looks very artificial, ordinary, and not innovative. This JCW exterior design you introduced was very innovative and suitable for the brand. Do not buy Minis after this model. 😁

- I expect to take delivery of mine in the next few weeks. I have never owned a mini before and test drove the regular f66 s some time ago and I was really impressed. I can't compare to previous models but I don't see why the new f66 should get so much negativity. It drives fantastic, looks fresh and even a bit sharper and modern, and the new interior feels very spacious for such a little car. I am a fan!

- 4:45 No, we don't have to accept, that in a JCW we don't get proper exhaust sound. We don't have to accept that the world is faking every thing possible. We don't have to accept screens instead of physical buttons. Have you tried adjusting the aircon or turning off the auto start stop on a slightly bumpy road? Does your finger get freezing cold when you want to do a couple of things on that screen in low temperatures? It is a great car, but there are things that need to go - from my perspective as a F66 Cooper S owner.

- Had from new an R53 Cooper S, R56 Cooper, F56 Cooper S, F56 JCW, F66 S Sport. Got my F66 JCW last week, it’s the best one of all of them. Better ride, better refinement, great technology. Obs not opened it up as it’s brand new but I did 4000 miles in my F66 S Sport and they proper grip and handle just like a mini needs to.
