Ferrari has unveiled its latest sports car, the 849 Testarossa, to international press and clients. The car, which replaces the SF90 Stradale in the range, is a hybrid plug-in super sports berlinetta equipped with three electric motors alongside the mid-rear twin-turbo V8, delivering a total of 1050 cv, 50 more than the car it replaces.
The 849 Testarossa takes its place at the top of Ferrari’s range thanks to its performance, its ability to thrill the driver without ever compromising ride comfort or interior refinement, as well as its futuristic yet deeply historically rooted design. This car is conceived for the most demanding clients; those who want the very best from a Ferrari. It is also the reason for the return of a legendary name in Maranello’s history, Testa Rossa, which was first used on the 500 TR in 1956 to describe the colour of the cam covers of some of Ferrari’s most extreme, high-performance and iconic racing engines, before being used as a name for one of the marque’s most famous road-going models, the 1984 Testarossa.
The 849 Testarossa is equipped with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system consisting of the 830 cv twin-turbo V8 engine combined with three electric motors, a high-voltage battery, and an inverter that together deliver a total output of 220 cv. This system brings the total power of the powertrain up to 1050 cv, an absolute record for a production Ferrari. The architecture of the 849 Testarossa's plug-in hybrid powertrain has been designed to ensure maximum performance, vehicle dynamics, and usability.
Drawing on its iconic heritage, Ferrari Magazine Editor Ben Barry tells us more about this super sports berlinetta – a car whose name recalls 70 years of legends. With design inspiration taken from the 1970s Sports Prototypes, its sharp, geometric lines create a unique and timeless silhouette. Beneath the sculpted bodywork lie cutting-edge solutions derived directly from the racing world, while the most advanced electronic controls in the Ferrari range ensure unparalleled driving precision.

- It's a Frankenstein assembly of Ferrari parts that aren't even blended together, but stuck together as if the lines matched up anyway. This just could not have been designed by the same people that created the gorgeous 296. At least get glasses for those who designed this, because their eyes do not work like they should.- The designers of the recent Ferraris got their idea from cyberpunk 2077 or what? Hideous faces on these cars and the overall silhouette reminds me of some cars from the game.
- The Testarossa was an icon; even today, it remains a form of perfection... Nowadays, design is dictated by extreme aerodynamic constraints, then shaped by designers who apparently no longer have the Sacred Fire. This creates sophisticated, exuberant cars, but alas, devoid of soul... (unless the problem lies with the marketing directors, who are often mediocre and useless.) What an era!
- Ferrari should sue Manzoni for this. There is nothing elegant or beautiful on the outside of this car. i have no faith in the SP4 now. ferrari is supposed to be elegant and beautiful, not hideous. This is lazy designing
