To share your 2025 MINI Digital Key Plus, use the Wallet app on your smartphone to select the key and tap the share button, then customize privileges and send the invitation link to the recipient's compatible mobile device. The recipient must accept the link and, if necessary, use an activation code sent via a different channel to complete the process. You can also share access and manage the key from the vehicle's Interaction Unit under "Driver recognition" settings.
Sharing steps Open the Wallet app: On your smartphone, open the Wallet app to find your MINI Digital Key Plus.
Start the share process: Select the Digital Key and tap the share icon.
Set permissions: Customize the shared key's privileges. You can grant full access, restrict certain functions, or add an activation code for extra security.

One thing to add: If you do this and set it up on an older iPhone and decide you want to upgrade to a newer phone, this digital key DOES NOT transfer via the Wallet/iCloud backup to the new phone . You have to set it up again on the new device with your key fobs. I found that out the hard way at an Apple Store.😊. If you’re heading into buy a new phone, make sure to bring both of your key fobs with you!
- Great video! Do I understand correctly, that I can do all the things with a digital key on my iPhone that I could do with the key fob? Can I share a digital key to someone who's on a different phone platform (for example, iPhone -> Android)? And if I share a digital key, can I limit the amount of time that the shared digital key will work? (Or, alternatively, can I revoke the shared digital key?)
I'm not clear about why I'd want to use the key card. You said it's like a valet card. I can see leaving the key card with a valet if I've only got the digital key on my iPhone with me. But, is there an advantage to leaving the card with the valet versus leaving a MINI key fob with the valet?
And, I take it that one would not routinely leave the key card in the MINI. Best to carry it in your wallet just in case?
And I guess I'm out of luck if I only have my iPhone digital key with me and my iPhone loses power!
